Child Friendly Cafes and Restaurants

Lets face it when you have a young child dining out can sometimes be a challenge. Going out for a meal as a family is a good way to bond as a family, it also gives your child a new experience of dining out and they may even get to taste new and exciting food. Plus as a parent eating out gets you out of the house and socialising.

There is an interesting article in the Sydney Morning Herald today about child friendly cafes and restaurants in Sydney.

It is great to see that more Australian cafes and restaurants are catering for families.

Siliskins - A Glass Bottle Alternative

With all the concern over the potential health risks from the common plastic ingredient bisphenol A used to make the polycarbonate and epoxy resins in baby bottles.

You may like to know about this product - SILISKIN

Siliskin is a silicone sleeve that fits over any glass baby bottle allowing baby to grab and hold the bottle avoiding slippage. The silicone skin slides on and off the bottle, and the skin is translucent allowing you to see the liquid in the bottle.

These Siliskins will make any glass baby bottle look stylish and they are available in a selection of pastel colours.

Each Siliskin comes with a glass bottle and a silicone nipple. Silicone is hygienic and hypoallergenic. Its rubber-like material is safe, durable and pliable, there are no open pores to harbor bacteria.

Little Helpers’ Fun Pod

Teaching children about healthy food and cooking from an early age can help develop good food habits that are carried through life.

The Fun Pod is designed to (i) let children help safely in the kitchen; (ii) reduce the likelihood of kitchen accidents; (iii) develop healthy eating habits; and (iv) assist in reducing childhood obesity levels.

No more standing on chairs or sitting on the bench next to razor sharp knives or saucepans full of boiling hot liquids!

The stylish Little Helper Fun Pod is bringing kids into the kitchen safely. No more standing kids on chairs or sitting them on bench tops to reach, the Fun Pod allows children to ‘help’ with the cooking in a contained space. Knives and boiling water can be kept well out of children’s reach, making it safe for children and less stressful for parents.

The award winning Fun Pod has five height settings, making it a great product for children aged one to five years.

It is available in three colours; black, red and natural.

New to this range is the Fun Pod High Chair and work top. This makes the Fun Pod even more versatile. The product comes as a regular Fun Pod with a Chair attachment. Simply slip the Chair into the Fun Pod to create the High Chair. The Chair can also be used as a stand alone seat, with or without the tray. The Fun Pod High Chair with reversible cushion is sure to compliment the most stylish of homes.

An optional extra is the Fun Pod Work Top. The Work Top converts the Fun Pod to additional bench space when your child is not using it. The Worktop can even be removed and used independently on the work surface.

A Fun Pod costs:
Standard Fun Pod $239
Fun Pod High Chair (includes Fun Pod & Chair) $359
Fun Pod Worktop $84.95

Foldable Eco Cot

For the environmentally conscious, check out this eco friendly cot.

I'm not sure if I would class it as a cot, probably more a bassinet or cradle.

Suspended from a frame crafted in solid beech, the bed is made of soft, strong 100% cotton and is fitted with a stiff board for supporting the mattress. Beautifully made and foldable, meaning it can be transported easily and great to take on visits or holidays and always attractive.

It features handy pockets on the outside which provide plenty of storage and the entire canvas bed can be removed for washing. Included is a feathery light transparent veil to cover the cot and shield your baby against insects.

This product has not been fitted with brakes, so is not meant for older babies who are able to pull themselves upright.

Vintage Prams

Check out these vintage prams aren't they just amazing!

I discovered many of them on
this site , which is a dutch site full of photos of old fashioned prams. I think that they specialise in refurbishing old prams and selling them. These vintage prams are mainly from the 30's to the 70's.

Wow, haven't prams changed a lot over the years. Obviously the size of your pram and it needing to fit into a car wasn't needed back then - the bigger the wheels the better by the look of it.

Check out the nifty pram that folds into a case, I bet this was way ahead in design for its time.

These have just amazed me what beautiful design and construction.

BUILT has collaborated with the award-winning children’s book illustrator, Stephen Savage, to take on the project of creating zoo animals for the design of these lunchboxes.

After all, what good is a lunchbox that doesn’t look good?

These cute lunchboxes unzip to a place mat, what a clever idea.

Made from polypropylene
Tested lead and food safe
Small handles for small hands
Saves hundreds of bags over the course of a year

They cost about $19.95

Mummy Cards

Here is a great idea for Mums.... You are at the playground and meet another parent that you want to exchange phone numbers, but cant find anything other than a sweetie wrapper or a wipe packet to write on!

Organise play dates with style with these
Mummy cards.

The cards are printed with a glossy finish on the front and a matte finish on the back. The glossy front provides a sophisticated look while the matte back makes it easy to write notes about your availability for play dates.

50 cards cost $35 (I think this price is U.S dollars)

Britney Spears to Design Children's Clothing

There are rumours that Britney will soon be launching her own kids clothing line.

I am wondering if there will be slogan t-shirts like "Mum, please remember to put my seat belt on!"

Britney met with designer Christian Audigier last week at the Ed Hardy offices.

If this is true, it will be interesting to see what the designs look like.
