Barbie Flag Ship Store

Mattel has opened a Barbie flagship store in Shanghai, China to mark Barbie's 50th birthday.

This is a haven for Barbie lovers. The House of Barbie is a six-storey, pink and sparkling building dedicated to all things Barbie,
including toys, clothing and books. There are display cases with dolls from the Barbie range over the past 50 years which are available as exact replicas to purchase, and customer designed dolls.

It doesn't stop there... they have a hair and nail salon, a gelato bar and a top floor restaurant.

A must see if you are visiting Shanghai, however Mattel has more stores planned world wide.

Etsy

From my days as a Steiner Preschool Director, I developed a love of things hand made. It was then that I discovered the web site Etsy. If you are looking for something a little different than the same old stuff that is available in stores, then I am sure you will find something beautiful on this site.

What is Etsy?
Etsy is an online marketplace for buying & selling all things handmade.Etsy's mission is to enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers.

You can find almost anything on Etsy. If you haven't seen this site you must take a look.

Bamboo Mobiles by Lorena Siminovich

Years ago I was not a fan of mobiles (no, not the phone variety), as the choice was mainly a stuffed teddy bear or toy dangling from string that played tacky music. However over the past few years there are so many great stylish choices in the mobile department.

I like the look of these new bamboo mobiles designed by Lorena Siminovich. Made from laser-cut pieces of bamboo with simple yet whimsical lines, these mobiles are an attractive hanging option in any child’s room.

Each mobile series complements Lorena’s range of original collages and screen-prints for the bedroom wall. (Bird Trio, Jungle Friends and Tree Friends).

RRP $120.00, available from Kindergallery

Pure Baby Winter Range and Made-By

I have always been a Pure Baby fan and their latest range does not disappoint. If you haven't seen their latest range, take a look.

Purebaby, is a fashion brand for babies and toddlers made using 100% organic cotton. Pure Baby is leading the nation in sustainable fashion production by becoming the first ever Australian business to join the global initiative, MADE-BY.

Products approved by MADE-BY must have evidence to show every stage of production uses environmentally-friendly materials, such as organic cotton, and are put together in factories with social codes of conduct, providing optimum working conditions for staff. Purebaby’s founder and Creative Director, Mirabai Winford said the company was dedicated to being 100 per cent accountable and transparent.

“We are proud to be the first Australian company to comply with the MADE-BY standards and stand by the fact we are a socially responsible business with respect for people and the environment,” she said. “Our vision is to create fashionable baby wear with a clear conscience".

Keep up the great work Pure Baby.

Make bathtime funtime with Drieyes

If your kids love the bath but hate the hair washing part, Drieyes may just be is the answer! It keeps the water and suds off your child’s face.

Drieyes is an Australian invention by an Aussie dad who was sick of the hair-washing drama. He knew there had to be a better way.

The cool, almost alien looking design might make it attractive to your child.

How does it work? It works with the child holding the ‘eyes’ and pushing the silicone rim to their foreheads. Because the kids have to hold the device, they are focused on this ‘job’ and tend not to squiggle around so much. This leaves two hands free for mum or dad to get to work on their hair. The result is squeaky clean hair in no time and a more relaxed bath experience for all.

It comes in a choice of bright colours - blue, green, orange, pink or yellow.

Currently available online from Drieyes and costs $29.70 plus P&H.

Tot Pod - Car Seat of the Future

Designer, Aldo Barreto, a student from Ontario Canada, designed this modern baby car seat for a Samsonite baby travel competition.

The ‘Tot Pod’ has a built-in child restraint system, a carrying handle and a storage compartment in the back. It also has drop down wheels to convert it from a car seat to a stroller.

A base is kept in the car and the seat clips onto this base which Aldo Barreto calls a 'seat mount'.
Love the slim line look of it.
